Crucial Initial Steps for Applicants

Before writing applications, the British Council and European consortium leaders recommend that organisations complete several administrative and strategic prerequisites:

• Establish Core Credentials: Create an EU Login immediately and register for an Organisation ID (OID) once the login is active.

• Conduct a Needs Analysis: Carry out a thorough internal needs assessment to ensure that proposed projects address genuine, long-term organisational priorities.

• Build Consortia: Begin identifying and collaborating with domestic or European partners who share common objectives and project goals.

• Funding Opportunities for Community & Heritage Languages
   

A major confirmation from the webinar is that community, heritage, and refugee languages are fully eligible for Erasmus+ funding. These languages align directly with the programme's Vertical Priority of improving language learning and promoting linguistic diversity.

Crucially, there is no restriction limiting funding to widely taught European languages. The programme explicitly supports projects involving a wide array of community languages—such as Portuguese, Arabic, Turkish, Bengali, Polish, Somali, and Ukrainian—as well as classical languages like Latin. This demonstrates Erasmus+'s deep structural commitment to multilingualism, European values, and social inclusion.
